Jill Stankov Profile

Jill Stankov
ADHD specialist

The seed for my career in psychology was planted during my first career as a teacher! After working in junior high, I discovered my interests were working with teens and families, but wanted to focus my efforts so that kids could come to school ready to learn and able to love learning. After 5 years of teaching, I left the junior high classroom for counselling private practice in 2022. My main areas of focus are working with ADHD, anxiety and depression, self-esteem; and academic support and strategies. I also love working with parents and supporting them in creating healthy relationships, boundaries, and routines.

Outside of work I am a mom to two little girls and a doodle, an avid coffee drinker, paint-by-numbers completer, and non-fiction book reader.  My husband and I love to travel with our daughters and find the “best kept secrets” of the places we’re travelling to – though it usually involves us finding coffee and pastries.

Approach

I use an integrative approach and pull from both cognitive and behavioural therapies, including CBT, ACT, DBT, and narrative therapy. My focus is on opening space for you and your experiences, and helping you understand and work through your challenges, heal the hurt, and find your favourite version of yourself.

Adolescents (13+), adults, families, and parenting support.

Fun Facts

  • I am a coffee snob (The District on 109th in Edmonton is my favorite).
  • I still love to teach, and presenting at teacher’s convention is always a highlight of my year.
  • I love Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, and Rise Against. I’m an Elder Emo.
