Christian Counselling in Alberta — Where Faith and Healing Meet

Faith can be a profound source of hope, comfort, and resilience during life’s most difficult seasons. At the same time, many people long for a counselling experience where they don’t have to separate their spiritual beliefs from their emotional wellbeing.

At Family Life Psychology & Wellness, we offer Christian counselling for children, teens, adults, couples, and families throughout Alberta, including Spruce Grove, Edmonton, Fort McMurray, and surrounding communities. Our registered psychologists provide compassionate, evidence-informed therapy that can thoughtfully incorporate your Christian faith when you want it to.

For some clients, faith is central to every conversation. For others, it may simply provide a foundation for values and decision-making. We meet you where you are, respecting both your beliefs and your personal goals for counselling.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, relationships, trauma, parenting, or life transitions, we’re here to support your emotional, psychological, and spiritual wellbeing.

What Is Christian Counselling?

Christian counselling is professional psychological therapy that thoughtfully integrates Christian faith into the counselling process when it aligns with the client’s wishes.

It combines evidence-based therapeutic approaches with respect for your spiritual beliefs, values, and worldview.

For some clients, this may include discussing how faith influences decisions, relationships, forgiveness, hope, or purpose. Others may wish to include prayer, Scripture, or spiritual reflection as part of their counselling journey.

The level of faith integration is always guided by you.

Our role is not to preach or persuade, but to provide professional mental health care that honours your beliefs while using approaches supported by psychological research.

Experiencing these symptoms doesn’t mean you’re weak. They are common responses to overwhelming experiences.

Who Is Christian Counselling For?

Christian counselling may be a good fit for individuals who want their faith to be acknowledged as an important part of their life and healing journey.

Some clients seek Christian counselling because they:

Christian counselling is available for:

Whether your faith has been a lifelong source of strength or you’re exploring difficult spiritual questions, counselling can provide a supportive place to process both emotional and spiritual experiences.

How We Integrate Faith Into Counselling

Every person’s relationship with faith is unique.

That’s why we don’t follow a predetermined formula for Christian counselling. Instead, we work collaboratively with you to understand how—if at all—you would like your faith to be incorporated into therapy.

Some clients choose to discuss biblical principles, while others simply appreciate working with a psychologist who understands the role faith plays in their life.

You decide what feels meaningful and appropriate.

Faith is an invitation, not an assumption

Your faith will never be imposed or assumed.

Some clients request prayer during sessions, others appreciate incorporating Scripture into conversations, and many simply want counselling from someone who respects and understands their Christian worldview.

Whatever your preference, your psychologist will follow your lead.

If faith is important to you, we’ll thoughtfully integrate it into therapy.

If it isn’t, we’ll focus entirely on the psychological goals you’ve identified.

Ethically sound and professionally grounded

Christian counselling at Family Life Psychology & Wellness is grounded in the ethical standards of registered psychologists and evidence-informed mental health care.

Faith does not replace clinical expertise—it complements it when clients choose.

Our psychologists use therapeutic approaches supported by research while respecting your personal beliefs, values, and autonomy throughout the counselling process.

Your emotional wellbeing, informed choice, and therapeutic goals remain at the centre of every session.

What Christian Counselling Can Help With

Christian counselling can support many of the same concerns addressed through traditional counselling while allowing faith to become part of the healing process when desired.

Our goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges while honouring the beliefs and values that are important to you.

A Note for Non-Faith Clients

Everyone is welcome at Family Life Psychology & Wellness.

While we offer Christian counselling for clients who desire it, faith integration is always optional.

Many of our psychologists provide counselling that is entirely secular and evidence-based, with no discussion of religion unless you request it.

You do not need to identify as Christian—or belong to any faith tradition—to receive compassionate, respectful care at our clinic.

Our commitment is to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment where every client feels safe, valued, and respected regardless of their beliefs or background.

FAQ

Q: Do I have to be a Christian to access your services?

Not at all. Family Life Psychology & Wellness warmly welcomes clients of all faith backgrounds and no faith background. Christian counselling is an option available to those who request it — our general counselling services are designed to be welcoming to everyone.

Q: What does faith integration look like in a session?

That depends entirely on the client. For some, it means being able to talk about faith as part of their life without feeling like it is off-limits. For others, it may include prayer, Scripture, or values-based exploration. We follow the client's lead.

Q: Is Christian counselling professionally sound?

Yes. Our counsellors are trained and registered professionals. Faith integration does not replace evidence-informed practice — it complements it when that is meaningful to the client.

Q: Can Christian counselling help with marriage and family issues?

Absolutely. Many faith-oriented couples and families find it meaningful to work with a counsellor who understands and respects their faith framework. We offer Christian-informed marriage counselling, family counselling, and individual support.
