Janelle Borders-Denault
Registered Provisional Psychologist

Janelle is a Registered Provisional Psychologist who provides individual therapy and psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.

Before becoming a psychologist, Janelle was a teacher, giving her a strong understanding of how learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing show up at home, at school, and in everyday life. Janelle has also supported individuals and families in hospice settings, including sitting vigil with those at the end of life. She has experience supporting people through grief, caregiver burnout, serious illness, and major life transitions.

Building on her background in education and specialized training in play therapy, Janelle recognizes that play is a child’s natural language and an essential part of healthy development. When working with children, she incorporates play to build trusting relationships, help children make sense of their experiences, process emotions, strengthen social and emotional skills, and develop healthy ways of coping.

Therapeutic Approach

Her practice is attachment-based and integrates client-centred, cognitive behavioural (CBT), dialectical behavioural (DBT), and emotion-focused (EFT) approaches. She is genuine, down-to-earth, and collaborative, tailoring therapy to each client’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Populations and Presenting Concerns

Janelle has experience supporting clients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, attachment and relationship concerns, grief and loss, self-esteem, identity development, school-related challenges, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and life transitions.
